Statement: JusticeMakers Bangladesh is gravely concerned over sexual harassment on a student of Islamic University, Kustia.

JusticeMakers Bangladesh is deeply concerned over the recent incident of sexual harassment, physical and psychological torture and death threats on a first year student of Islamic University, Kustia in Bangladesh led by Sanjida Chowdhury, Vice President of Bangladesh Student League, student wing of ruling party Bangladesh Awami League, Islamic University branch on 12 February late night to 13 February early morning, 2023.

Simultaneously, JusticeMakers Bangladesh urged the concerned authority to form a judicial probe committee to find out the alleged culprit, aiming to bring them before the book conducting a quick and impartial investigation.

Statement: JusticeMakers Bangladesh is deeply concerned over the banning of Prity's book, "Jonmo O Jonir Itihas".

JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed grave concern over the banning of Jannatun Nayeem Prity's autobiography 'Jonmo O Jonir Itihas' at the Ekushey Book Fair, Dhaka.

The rights organization has also demanded that authorities immediately lift the ban and allow the book to be available to readers.

According to news publish on different newspaper and information received from reliable source that the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela taskforce has banned Jannatun Nayeem Prity's autobiography Jonmo o Jonir Itihash from the ongoing book fair showed causing various controversial issues, including personal attacks and objectionable comments on judges written in the book, which are against the rules of the book fair.

The Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed deep concern, condemnation and protest over the vandalism of idols of 14 Hindu temples in three unions of Baliadangi Upazila of Thakurgaon district.

Human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the threat of cross fire to Dhaka Lawyers Association senior advocate Aminul Goni Titu in the court premises for performing his professional duties.

At the same time, Justice Makers Bangladesh has called for a judicial equery committee headed by a justice of the High Court to identify the responsible police officer and take appropriate measures under the departmental and criminal law.

Bangladesh: Continuing Threats and Harassment of Lawyer Shahanur Islam

The Law Society of England and Wales (the “Law Society”) is the professional body representing approximately 200,000 solicitors in England and Wales. Its activities include upholding the independence of the legal profession, the rule of law and human rights throughout the world. The Law Society holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 2014.

The Law Society is gravely concerned about the continuing threats and harassment of lawyer Shahanur Islam in connection with his legitimate activities as a lawyer. He works as the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights and JusticeMakers Bangladesh. Mr Islam has defended the rights of ethnic, religious, and LGBTI minorities, as well as opposition politicians and has faced multiple death threats, intimidation, physical assault, and arrest since at least 2008.

Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has congratulated and wished the transgender woman Payal Khatun for being elected as a female member in Kanchanpur Union Parishad (UP) of Sadar Upazila of Kushtia district of Bangladesh.

 

According to the news published by Voice of America's Bengali section online on November 4, 2022, Payal Khatun, a transgender woman elected as a member of the Union Parishad in Kushtia district of Bangladesh and she is the first elected public representative of the third gender in Kushtia district.

Bangladeshi human rights organization JusticeMakers Bangladesh has expressed its deep concern and anger over the attempt to expulsion of a sexual minority homosexual community teacher from the college on charges of homosexuality with students in Dhamrai, Dhaka.

At the same time, Justice Makers Bangladesh strongly demanded that the culprits involved in the incident should be bring before the book after quick and impartial investigation.

According to the news published in the online newspaper risingbd.com on November 2, 2022 AD, it is known that 30 students have written a complaint to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer against Aminul Islam, the senior lecturer of the geography department of Bhalum Ataur Rahman Khan Degree College in Dhamrai, Dhaka seeking remedy for homosexuality.
