Paris, France; April 23, 2024: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) deeply mourns the tragic suicidal death of transgender model Radia Teherin Utsha in Dhaka on April 22, 2024. JMBF believes that Radia Teherin Utsha's death is a sobering reminder of the human cost of prejudice and discrimination. We should honor her memory by redoubling our efforts to create a society where all people are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their gender identity.

JMBF learned from its reliable sources that Radia Teherin Utsha, a 19-year-old transgender model, tragically ended her life by jumping from the sixth-floor roof of Byatikram Mahila Hostel in Mirpur, Dhaka. Radia, a student in the honors first year at Mirpur Bangla College, took this drastic step on April 22, Monday, around 8:00 PM.

Transgender Individual committed Suicide in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria Due to Mental Stress

On March 25, 2024, Saidul Islam Nayan (26) committed suicide by hanging himself in Darra village of Nabinagar upazila, Brahmanbaria. Nayan was the eldest of three sons of Md. Shariful Islam and Nargis Akhtar from Darra village in the Rasullabad union. It is known that he had been in Saudi Arabia for a long time.

According to family sources, although Nayan was biologically male, his behavior was akin to that of the third gender. Hijras are often ridiculed by locals for their affinity and feminine nature. Locals believe that he may have committed suicide due to social bullying and the inferiority complex associated with being a hijra. The Acting Police Inspector (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station stated that more details will be provided after the investigation.

পিয়াল ও শান্তনু দুই-বন্ধু স্কুল জীবন থেকে শুরু করে কলেজ পর্যন্ত এক সাথেই পড়াশুনা করছে। পিয়াল সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় মৃত্যুর ১ মাস ৯ দিন পর শান্তনু অবুঝ মনকে বোঝাতে না পেরে আত্মহত্যা করে। দু’জনেই পাড়ি জমিয়েছে পরপারে।

জানা গেছে পাটকেলঘাটা সরুলিয়া গ্রামের মোহন কুমারের বর্তমান বসবাস খুলনা। তার পুত্র শান্তনু কুমার (১৮) খুলনা সিটি কলেজের ছাত্র। অপর দিকে একই কলেজের একই ব্যাচের ছাত্র পিয়াল (১৮)। দুই বন্ধুর এতই মিল মহব্বত যে বন্ধুত্বে তাদের জুড়ি নেই। খুলনার ডুমুরিয়া নামক স্থানে নসিমন দুর্ঘটনায় পিয়াল নিহত হয়। বন্ধুর মৃত্যুর খবর শুনে শান্তনু গত ২৫ জানুয়ারি রাতে নিজ বাসায় গলায় রশি দিয়ে ঝুলে আত্মহত্যা করে। পিয়াল খুলনা সেন্ট্রাল রোডের বিশ্বাস রবিউল ইসলামের পুত্র এবং শান্তনু খুলনা ফুড গোডাউনের চাকুরিরত মোহন কুমারের পুত্র।

দুই বান্ধবীর বিষপান, একজনের মৃত্যু: নেপথ্যে সমকামিতা

সুমি আক্তার ও লক্ষ্মী দাস পূজা দুই বান্ধবী। দু’জনই ফরিদপুরের ভাঙ্গা কেএম কলেজের অনার্সের প্রথমবর্ষের ছাত্রী। দুই বান্ধবী গত ৭ই জানুয়ারি ভাঙ্গা থেকে শ্রীনগরে এসে একসঙ্গে বিষপান করে। পরে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় সুমির মৃত্যু হয়। সুমির মৃত্যুর পর শ্রীনগর থানায় এসে তার পরিবার ধর্ষণ ও আত্মহত্যা প্ররোচনার অভিযোগে মামলা করে। পরে পুলিশি তদন্তে দুই বান্ধবীর সমকামিতার বিষয়টি বেরিয়ে আসে। জানা গেছে, সুমির বাড়ি মাদারীপুর জেলার রাজৈর উপজেলার সেরেস্তাবাদ। পূজার বাড়ি ভাঙ্গা উপজেলার সোনামুখী এলাকায়। ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণিতে পড়ার সময় তাদের পরিচয়। সপ্তম শ্রেণিতে বন্ধুত্ব হয়।
