INDIA-BANGLADESH: JMBF Condemns Killing of Bangladeshi Citizen by Indian Border Security Force at Kumilla

Paris, France: June 11, 2024 - Justice Makers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), a France-based human rights organization, expresses profound concern and vehemently protests the killing of Bangladeshi citizen Anowar Hossain at the Jamtla Indian border area of Burichong upazila in Comilla on Sunday, June 9, 2024, by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

JMBF strongly condemns this egregious act of violence against an unarmed civilian along the India-Bangladesh border, which represents a blatant violation of human rights. JMBF demands immediate attention and action from the both India and Bangladesh government to provide exemplary punishment to the perpetrators involved in such gross human rights violations.

BANGLADESH-INDIA: JMBF Unveils Annual State of Indo-Bangla Border Violence 2023

Paris, France – June 01, 2024: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) today released the comprehensive report on the annual state of violence along the Indo-Bangladesh border for the year 2023.  The report documents 55 violent incidents that have resulted in 66 victims, underscoring the urgent need for effective interventions to address this persistent issue from January to December 2023. The incidents have led to fatalities, injuries, and detainments, affecting numerous individuals and communities across the border.

The report reveals a troubling pattern of violence, with the majority of incidents being perpetrated against males, resulting in 64 male victims from 53 incidents, while females were targeted in two incidents, leading to two female victims. Despite the lower number of incidents involving females, the violence they experienced was equally severe.

JMBF's Urgent Demand for Justice in the Border Killings by Indian BSF and Immediate Halt to Violence

Paris, France; May 09, 2024: The France-based rights organization, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), expresses profound anguish and outrage in the strongest condemnation of the recent unjust and egregious killings of two Bangladeshi nationals by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Tetulia border in Panchagarh district on May 8, 2023, early morning. The brutal and unwarranted killing of Abdul Jalil and Yasin Ali, unarmed youths whose lives were ruthlessly snatched away, is an affront to humanity and a blatant violation of human rights.

According to reports published in different news media in Bangladesh, JMBF learned that on May 08, 2024, early morning between 12:30 am to 1:00 am, the Indian Border Security Force killed two Bangladeshi youths, Abdul Jalil, 24, of the Magura area, and Yasin Ali, 23, of the Tiranihat Brammatal area, along the Tetulia border in Panchagarh district using only two bullets. One of the Bangladeshis sustained a bullet to his head, while injuries to another could not be seen due to profound bleeding on the body; The Indian forces took away their bodies after the killings.

Paris, France; May 2, 2024: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) vehemently condemns the heinous act of the tragic killing of Abul Kalam, a 22-year-old Bangladeshi youth, by India's Border Security Force (BSF) near the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat on the early morning of April 26, 2024.

JMBF asserts that the killing of Abul Kalam by the BSF is a clear violation of human rights and an egregious display of excessive use of force. His untimely demise due to excessive force serves as a poignant reminder of the grave dangers faced by innocent civilians residing in border areas.

Statement:JMBF Strongly Condemns BSF Shootings Along Indo-Bangla Border, Demands Immediate Halt to Violence

Paris,France; April 05, 2024: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) strongly protests and expresses deep concern over the deaths of two Bangladeshi citizens and the injuries to five others in Chapainababganj, Lalmonirhat, and Jessore along the Indo-Bangla border in the last week. 

The France base human rights organisation demands an immediate halt to all firing at the Indo-Bangla border and calls for an independent joint international investigation to bring the alleged BSF perpetrators to justice.

Statement: JMBF's Deep Concern and Protest Regarding the Incident of 6 Bangladeshis Killed, 4 Injured, and 7 Arbitrarily Arrested by BSF in December!

Paris, France; December 31, 2023: France-based human rights organization, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), expresses grave concern and protests over the incident involving the killing of 6 Bangladeshi citizens through shooting, injuring 4 individuals by firing, and the arbitrary detention of 7 people by the Indian Border Guard Force (BSF) at the Bangladesh-India border in the last month (December).

Moreover, as the killing of unarmed Bangladeshi citizens by the BSF on the border constitutes a gross violation of international human rights law, the French-based human rights organization calls upon BSF members to exercise the utmost care in fulfilling their duties in accordance with international law.

JMBF Calls for an End to Border Shootings by BSF on the Indo-Bangla Border

Paris, France; November 14, 2023: JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) expresses deep concern regarding the tragic death of Samirul Haque, a 16-year-old Bangladeshi, due to gunfire by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Godagari border in the Rajshahi district on November 09, 2023.

The human rights organization based in France, JMBF, strongly condemns the killing of Samirul Haque and calls for a halt to all border killings by the BSF, in compliance with international laws and principles.

As reported by various Bangladeshi newspapers, on November 9th at noon, Samirul Haque, son of Hasibul Islam from Barinagar village, was fatally shot by the BSF at the Godagari border in Rajshahi. The incident occurred at the Diyar Manikchak border of Charashariadah union in the Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district.

Statement: Strong Condemnation and Protest by JMBF over killing of a Bangladeshi citizen by BSF

Paris, France: September 18, 2023- JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), a France base human rights organization, strongly condemns and protests the killing of a Bangladeshi citizen, Mizanur Rahman (50), by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on September 15, 2023, at Beninpur border of Chuadanga, Bangladesh.

JMBF believes that the killing of an unarmed civilian by the BSF on the border is a gross violation of human rights. BSF personnel must exercise utmost caution and refrain from indiscriminate firing while performing their duties, so as to avoid any harm to civilians.
