ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার নবীনগর উপজেলার রসুল্লাবাদ ইউনিয়নের দাররা গ্রামে গলায় ফাঁস লাগিয়ে সাইদুল ইসলাম নয়ন (২৬) নামে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের (হিজরা) একজন তরুণের আত্মহত্যার অভিযোগ পাওয়া গেছে।
নিহত নয়ন দাররা গ্রামের মো: শরীফুল ইসলাম ও নার্গিস আক্তারের তিন (০৩) ছেলের মধ্যে বড় ছিলেন। তিনি দীর্ঘ দিন সৌদি আরবে ছিলেন বলে জানা যায়।
পারিবারিক সূত্রে জানা যায়, নয়ন ছেলে হলেও তার চাল-চলন ছিলো তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের মত! হিজরাদের সাথে সখ্যতা ও মেয়েলি স্বভাবের কারণে স্থানীরা উপহাস করতো বলে জানা যায়। স্থানিয়দের ধারনা করছেন, হিজরা হওয়ার কারনে সোশ্যাল বুলিং ও হীনমন্যতায় মানসিক চাপে ভোগে সে আত্মহত্যা করতে পারে। নবীনগর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত পুলিশ পরিদর্শক (ওসি) জানান, তদন্ত শেষে বিস্তারিত জানানো হবে।
