A Facebook user named "Mon Dey" has called for the ban of human rights activist and lawyer Shahanur Islam in Bangladesh, alleging that he is implementing a Western agenda to establish and legitimize the homosexual agenda in the country.
At the same time, he urges the necessary steps to ban Justice Makers Bangladesh, an organization founded by Shahanur Islam.
The Facebook group called
Caravan, established under the slogan "Look at the world through the eyes
of Islam," made the call on June 21, 2023, at 5:18 PM Bangladesh time.
In a write-up titled
"Homosexuality on the way to legalization in Bangladesh?" from a fake
Facebook ID called Mon Dey have called upon Ulema Keram, speakers, responsible
imams, khatibs, online activists, Islamic groups and organizations, writers,
guardians, and ordinary Muslims for measures to ban Shahanur Islam in Bangladesh.
In his writing, he mentioned that
on April 12, 2023, Justice Makers Bangladesh, an organization working on the
rights of homosexuals in Bangladesh, petitioned the President, Prime Minister,
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary
Affairs to decriminalize homosexuality by repealing Article 377 of the
Bangladesh Penal Code. As of June 21, 2023, 4:00 PM, 228 out of 500 people have
signed the petition.
He also wrote that Shahanur
Islam, the founder of Justice Makers Bangladesh, has been working to legalize
homosexuality in Bangladesh for over a decade and has openly advocated for LGBT
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) rights. Mr. Islam is going to publish a
research paper titled "Critical Analysis of Violence against LGBTQI+
People in Bangladesh: Monitoring Online News Media in 2022" on June 22,

France, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace in Paris. The reception was held
for fourteen human rights activists from around the world. There, he drew the
French president's attention to the widespread human rights violations against
ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities (including homosexuals) in Bangladesh
and the criminalization of homosexuality. He requested the President of France
to provide financial, moral, and technical support to his organization and fund
projects related to his agenda and team training.
